pavlova with love

Hi!

I am so sorry for being MIA these few weeks. But hey, just gonna make some short post. The title shows it all guys! Yes, it's PAVLOVA!

Last week, i made mini pavlovas for Ain's Birthday and a Pavlova originally for fathers day, but then mum bought it to SMESH for the twins. I don't mind since it could help me to promote the Pavlovas to the teachers and students. Tehee.

This time i topped it off with fresh cut kiwi and grapes!
Alright. this is sooo awkward. Couldn't rotate it. grrrr.

It may look small, but it's 8-inch in diameter. and i doubled it. 2 layers guys! so the price is worth it! =)

And i tried out some experiments using milk chocolate and some hazelnut+wholemeal cookie crumbs base. It looked like a chocolate bar but with a twist. yes, Giada style. Ngeh.

Hazelnut+cookie crumb base with milk choc on top. it's heaven. Tehee.

Free Recipes

Hello!

So i opened my twitter just now and a friend of mine told me she had a plenty of mayonnaise leftover and asked what could she make with them. Well, since she asked, i had this thought of posting it here instead so that you guys could see and perhaps make one too, just in case you're in the same situation someday.

So, it's really easy and tasted good too.

Tuna & Lemon Mayo

Makes: 4 toasties

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup tuna
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • rind from a lemon, grated
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 4 tbsp. spring onions, diced
  • pepper to taste
  • 8 slices of bread
  • butter (optional)

Method:
  1. Mix the tuna, mayonnaise, lemon rind, garlic and spring onions in a bowl. Season with pepper.
  2. Preheat the toastie maker and butter each of the four slices of bread (optional).
  3. Place one slice of bread, butter side down, onto the bottom grill plate.
  4. Spoon half of the mixture onto the centre of the bread.
  5. Place the top piece of bread on top of the mixture, butter side up.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 for the other grill plate.
  7. Gently close the lid and allow to toast for approximately 3 minutes, or until the bread has browned sufficiently.

And if you love something different, why don't you try this unique but delicious recipe!

Rainbow Cake, AGAIN!

Hey you guys!! (and ladies!!)

So, last week i received an assignment from my mother. She gave me some $$$ and asked me to bake a rainbow cake for my grandma's (my mum's mum) birthday, which is yesterday (1/6/2012).

And so, i made a 2KG Rainbow Cake with Fresh Cream Filling and Italian Meringue Buttercream Frosting which is perfect for the cake since the buttercream could stand heat better than normal buttercream/fresh cream.

It's still not as neat as it should be. But hey, i am an amateur. Practice makes perfect!

How it looked from the side =)

Fondant Roses! Can't believe how easy it is to make one! Believe me, made it myself people ;)

I did it as simple as i could, as the colorful stars will definitely attract the kids attention =p

How it looked inside. Too bad the cake cutting technique is a bit off =(
but, who cares! =p

So i have received positive comments from those who came. The taste is okay, the buttercream suits the cake, it's perfect in taste, not too bland, not too sweet; which is a relieve for me. hehe. The design definitely got the kids attention. But most of all, the birthday 'girl' (coughs) is happy! I am glad that my cake pleased everyone.
